A Challenge to Myself

I am not the most determined person, when it comes to motivating myself to adhere to my goals.  I get lazy half way, get distracted or as I would like to call it "get bored."  Thus, I have decided to prepare a little challenge for myself and document it through videos and blogs.  This way I will feel the need to keep up to my words, since they are out in the open; not secretive promises to myself that I break pretty easily.

I have been struggling to lose weight for a while now.  I just want to lose a few pounds to motivate myself to live a healthy lifestyle; therefore, this little challenge is now in the process of making or rather in completing.

I have made three simply rules for my challenge and I have given myself 10 days to keep up with my goals.  The goals are :

  1. Absolutely no drinking Juices, Sodas or any energy drinks.
  2. Cutting out sugar completely - not even in tea or coffee.
  3. Getting at least 30 minutes of exercise into my daily routine; even if it is as little as walking around the block.

Today was day 1 of the challenge and so far, I do not have any withdrawal symptoms.  Especially since I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and I need to eat something sweet after every meal (even if it is as little has a pinch of sugar.  Yes, my addiction is that worse).

If anyone else would like to do the challenge with me, they are more than welcome to.  I hope I will be able to complete it.

A Short Story - Part 1

As he passes by a fruit store, looks around for a second to see if anyone has noticed his presence, and then within a split second grabs an apple and runs off.  He keeps running without looking back until he cannot anymore.  He is out of breath and his whole body is shivering.  Although he has stopped running, he is afraid to look back.  He gets the courage to convince himself to look back and notices the empty street behind him.

As he gets excited about not getting caught, his mother’s face starts to appear before him “Jack, patience is the key to life and being good is the only way to live it.”  His mother was a patient lady; she spent her whole life trying to make a decent living out of her low income job.  She wanted Jack to get educated and help the less fortunate.  She made him promise right before her death that he will always remember her sayings and live by them.

“Mother, if only you had also warned me about this harsh world” he mumbled to himself.

Thank you Pearl Daisy :)

After much debate, I agreed upon my first formal blog.  I have decided to dedicate this blog post to Pearl Daisy.  I absolutely fell in love with sister Amena’s personality after watching a few videos on YouTube.  Although, we have never exchanged a formal conversation, there was a reply to my comment on YouTube once.  Well what is to be expected of such a busy person after all.

I was very excited to place my very first order with Pearl daisy and I believe the word “excited” is an understatement.  If you ask my close friends, they can tell you how much I have annoyed them by talking about Pearl Daisy.  It has come to a point where, whenever I try to take the Hijab conversations towards Pearl Daisy; their answer is “WE ALREADY KNOW.”

Also, another purpose of this post was to Thank Pearl Daisy team and sister Amena for a wonderful customer service.  By mistake, my package was sent to another customer and I had received theirs instead.  I was not even aware of this mishap, until I received an email from Pearl daisy.  They had explained the situation and as a gesture of apology asked me to keep the Hijabs I had received in my package.  That was a very sweet gesture and I do not think I have ever seen such nice customer service anywhere.

I kept on forgetting to Thank Pearl daisy via email, but I wanted to write a blog instead.  Since I was pretty occupied for the past few days, I finally got the chance to write a blog and thank them.
Thank you Pearl Daisy and Thank you sister Amena; may both of you continue to flourish and become successful by the grace of Allah.  I and many other loyal customers of Pearl Daisy appreciate all your hard work.  (JazakAllah and Ameen)
